Research Blog: How do I make a music video??

So for this music video I will be using the song "All I Want for Christmas is You," by Mariah Carey. Her video begins with a girl looking at her, the snow, and Santa. Then the snow is like magic making her go into a winter wonderland as she sings and dances. Then ends with the girl leaving and winking at Mariah Carey.

- In all of scenes the sets are like stages while she preforms. As she "preforms" for the girl the angle show her and her background dancers. She has 3 different locations; winter wonderland, the grand stage with stairs, and the outside of a building (that being "real life").

-All costumes are in winter clothes or Christmas related outfits. Like the nutcracker, Santa, candy canes, polar bears, and angels.

- Her overall idea is showing she is in love but she is saying it to the little girl. Like telling her a story by singing it.

-There are props everywhere to show the season and place.

-There is a lot of editing in beginning and end to show the "magic" that happened for her to be able to sing to the girl. Sound is the same it fades in and fades away when the magic is coming in or leaving.

Music videos in general use a lot of money to make these sets for the story to make sense. A lot of scenes in a music video can be outside in the city or what not. But most of the time these sets are made so that they can have control over what happens and make it look a certain way to please the aesthetic they want. Also a lot of money is spent on costumes, make up, actors, and a whole bunch of things to make it look the way one wants. Music videos either show a story with the acting or singing, or it looks like the person singing is singing to you and not in general.

These type of videos take a lot of different clips and scenes. They are always just a bunch of small sections cut in between and inserted with one of the other scenes. They a whole bunch of different angles and movements with the camera to make the video seem more interesting and not just like you are watching someone dance.
